T5 LED Grow Light Electronic Ballast Replacement Instructions
Follow along and learn how to switch out an old T5 fixture ballast for a new one that works with our T5 HO Plug & Play LED Grow Lamps.
Upgrading to T5 LED grow lamps from T5 fluorescents offers numerous benefits for plant growth and cost savings. With a longer lifespan and dedicated horticultural spectrums, LED lamps are more energy efficient, emit less heat and are environmentally friendly.

I chose to order through the Active Grow website. Free shipping and 10% off was a no brainer. Arrived 1n 7 days packed like a prized art piece. I chose plug and play. After checking the ballast compatability chart I new these would work. Popped them in, all bulbs lit up brightly and we have been happy ever since. So much cooler than fluorescent bulbs and the spectrum seems just right for my seedlings. Highly recommend.
The lamps were easy to install in my old fluorescent device and work fine. I didn't use it long enough before the plants could go outside to observe any difference. will make some side-by-side comparisons nest spring.
Switch these on a 6bulb T5 and my girls loved the change. They loved it so much and responded so well I ordered a bunch for a few 12 bulb fixtures I have in flower with different spectrums and the results so far are amazing. I can get over 700PPFD between 8-12 inches without burn. Get these lights. Diet durban 7 weeks from seed crazy growth.
Grow vegetables indoors all year from seed to harvest using Active Grow sunlamps. I started out with the Active Grow SunWhite 8 lamp T5 fixture. My tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers did so well that I decided to convert all my T8 fluorescent fixtures into ballast free to use T8 Active Grow SunWhite bulbs too (T8 review starts at 2:23). I have harvested so many awesome tasting vegetables. My lettuces did phenomenal under these grow lights. The hardiness and texture were way better than when I was using full spectrum fluorescent. Check out my YouTube videos at Amelia's Indoor Garden. To top it off they are located here in the US with excellent customer service. They truly have a passion for their product.
It's ALIVE! Works for me!!! Lite it, don't fight it!!!!
Buy these NOW!!! Used to get 5.7oz average yield with Fluorescent T5HO's in two (4) bulb TEK T5HO fixtures per shelf. Now with the Active Grow LED T5's, I get 8.5oz Average yield. The old bulbs used 238 watts on watt meter. new ones use 128 watts. Runs waaaay cooler. Don't have to use AC as much. Have to use dehumidifier more for all the new vigorous growth. No brainer, get these bulbs if you're using T5HO's. They use the very best LED's on these and they test and post the spectrum results. There are a million LED light companies out there, most are mediocre. Not these, top notch 100%

These seedlings I started about 5 weeks ago are now thriving in my garden. I usually supplement those plants with others I pick up at the nursery to fill in gaps. Not this year. Retail inventory of seedlings was horrible, and so was the quality! And my latest happy discovery this seed-starting round is my new grow lamp system. I love trying different lighting systems in hopes of finally settling on a favorite. Over recent years as I was creating my Master Seed-starting online course, I trialed many options from basic fluorescent shop lights, to high-end LED rigs and more sophisticated T5 fluorescent systems. Recently I was invited to try and keep (at no cost to me) a 24W T5 lamp and fixture from Active Grow. I've trialed several more basic LED shop light rigs in the past but the results were just average. But not this one. It's definitely got my attention. These lamps were clearly designed for indoor growing, with high PPF efficiency (the amount of quality light frequency usable by the plants), and higher energy efficiency (none of the heat energy wasted by the fluorescent alternatives). Over 5 weeks of growing time under this system, the plants performed very well - no legginess, nice compact plants, great color, and no light-burn. You can buy just the lamps that plug and play into existing T5 fluorescent fixtures (4 lamps cost about $139), or you can buy the lamps and fixture for around $219 for the 2x4 ft size - perfect for evenly lighting 4 standard trays on a self. The seedlings here were growing under the Sun White Pro lamps and I was very happy with the results. I'm really looking forward to seeing how it performs for the next round of warm-season edibles starting in February. A link to this lamp system is in my instagram profile (@joegardener).
